| Studio Sapphire | Studio Sapphire is developing The Twilight Cradle, a cozy, non-violent narrative adventure game with hand-illustrated pop-up storybook visuals and experimental puzzle design that explores duality, integration, and the secret threads between worlds. (Also: ghosts! 👻) You play as Ghostie, a curious spirit haunting two parallel fantasy villages connected by a mysterious thread. Each reflects the light and dark aspects of being human. Character dialogue becomes a tactile puzzle: speech-balloon stickers can be peeled, layered, reassembled, and infused with elemental energy to transform conversations, and gently intertwine the fate of both worlds. The Twilight Cradle is led by me, Krystal Lynn Hillier, a passionate solo transgender indie game developer. I’ve cherished video games as transformative art my entire life. This project is my tender and strange love letter to that unmistakable magical ‘click’ when a game changes you. With early pre-sales showing momentum, and with support from ArtsNL and Canada Media Fund, The Twilight Cradle will set a new benchmark for bold, artist-driven indie games made in Newfoundland & Labrador, and across Canada. At Sci-Fi on the Rock, I will be showcasing hands-on demos of the game-in-progress, offering limited-run merch, and taking pre-orders for those who wish to join the growing community of wandering little ghosts bringing this world to life.
