“She Was Made Of Stardust”

She may have humbly walked among us but it was always there, her starlight.

It was there in the way she loved the skies, how space never seemed vast or frightening but familiar and welcoming. The way she looked into the depths of space and saw possibility, charm, wonder and hope to then contagiously share it. Share it with that intrepid, bursting, unyielding excitement to live and learn. To be so at home amidst the vastness, to be void of the fear that would take most, to see the colours through the dark…it was there.

It was there in the her infinite warmth that enclosed when you were near. Surely, only a star could burn so bright, share so much comfort and somehow always have enough to spare. To have a sparkle so luminous it spilled out of her spirit, uncontainable…unable to hide! It gleamed through her smile and the aurora colours of her eyes but most importantly it radiated from her core, a glow that kept us safe…it was there.

It was there in her love of small things as we surely must look to the fireflies high above. Where others saw specs and inconsequential beings, she saw diversity, capability, inspiration and precious life. She saw tiny existence worth exploring, worth caring for and loving, the contribution and the potential of humans and creatures of all sizes. In her belief that all mattered, in her compassion and consideration, in her unfailing kindness…it was there.

It was there most of all in her guidance, her wisdom and her patience as the stars are used to navigate mankind below. In the way we know the north star, in the way the constellations are never out of place we knew she was always here, never fading & forever constant. We knew she would listen, she knew she would care, we knew she would never truly leave our side. In the way she knew us, the way she would guide us, in the way she loved us…it was there.

It is there still though she is no longer here, as a star’s light persists long after it is gone. It is there when we cannot see it during the brightest of our days and reappears again in our darkest hours. A light she left us that we can feel and see, but never again grasp in our hands. We should have known we could not hold her forever, although for us she would have stayed if she could. She would have forsaken her beloved sky for us, would have stayed but she had to ascend, she had to go.
For she was timeless, she was cosmic…she was made of Stardust.
