it's no secret...
our superpowers come from
amazing volunteers!
applications for 2025 are now open!
Every good Con needs a crew of talented warriors and magical beings backing them up.
That’s where you come in!
It takes a village to run Sci-Fi on the Rock and we’d love your help!
Our volunteers work all over the convention helping the committee, security, workshops and panels, media, guests, artists, vendors and most importantly – the fans!
We are sincerely grateful to all the hard-working volunteers past and present who have been part of making Sci-Fi on the Rock a success. Thank you!

Questions?
Volunteers must offer at least 4 hours of their time over the course of the weekend as well as attend volunteer training pre-convention. You will also need to complete a Code of Conduct before starting with us (this will be arranged by SFOTR after you apply.)
Volunteers can expect to perform a variety of tasks depending on where they wish to be assigned. Our Volunteer Coordinator Jessica will work with each volunteer to make sure they are placed in a role they feel comfortable with. Check out the list of volunteer roles below to get an idea of where you might like to help out!
In exchange for their work, volunteers receive a day pass to the convention for each 4-hour shift – so if you work three 4-hour shifts you can attend the convention for free! Each volunteer also receives a badge, a volunteer T-shirt, and snacks and beverages.
Our volunteers generally have to be 16 years old to volunteer with us. Any volunteer under 18 will need to have signed permission from a parent or guardian.
Absolutely! Some of our most dedicated volunteers are long-time attendees first so we know folks love to take in all the convention activities.
You sure can! You’ll have a volunteer badge to wear so people will know you’re with the convention team 🙂
You can get started volunteering by emailing volunteer@scifiontherock.com or apply when the call for volunteers goes out on our social media pages each year leading up to the convention.
